Roule Galette: Where you can enjoy coffee and crepes in Melbourne, Australia

Roule Galette is one of those few places in Melbourne that people are willing to wait in line for, so I was naturally curious. I don’t mind waiting. I’m Filipino; getting in line is in our DNA. I waited for about 20 minutes to be seated and I think it was worth it.

Owned by Michel Dubois, a seasoned crepe connoisseur who brought his culinary finesse all the way from Paris to Melbourne in 2006, Roule Galette was built in 2007. The cafe is known for its scrumptious crepes and galettes. The name means “pancake roll” in French.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Roule Galette ambiance and interiors

Roule Galette’s design and interiors didn’t quite live up to the charming French cafes I remembered from my time in France. The decor lacked that quintessential French flair, if. you know what I mean. However, there was a subtle touch of uniqueness with the newspaper wallpapers adorning the upper part of the walls. The kitchen is on the elevated area at the far end of the cafe.

The seating area was a bit limited, which also explains why people had to wait outside to be seated. But the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting and there was French music playing in the background.

Sugar butter crepe

Price: USD 5.05

I kept it simple and ordered the sugar butter crepe; a simple yet exquisite delight. Next time, I’ll try their savory galettes as I heard they were equally appetizing. Some of the bestsellers are the cheese galette and the mushroom and gruyere galette.

Cappuccino

Price: USD 3.23

I paired my crepe with a cup of cappuccino and it perfectly complemented the experience.

In conclusion, Roule Galette is a terrific spot to go for a delectable and genuine French galette or crepe. The crepe is delicious, the ambiance is laid-back and welcoming, and the service is attentive and kind. If you’re searching for a fantastic venue to have a crepe in Melbourne, I definitely suggest Roule Galette.
