Coffee Shop Review: Gratitude Cafe, Boracay, Philippines
I was walking along D’Mall, searching for a place to have lunch, when I passed by this beautiful coffee shop called Gratitude Cafe. I was just in Boracay in February 2021; I’m pretty sure this cafe wasn’t there before. I saw one of the baristas waving at me, inviting me to come in. Cafes have food, so I thought, why not? I’d eat my lunch there.

🖼️ Gratitude Cafe Ambiance and interiors
I haven’t been to Bali, but I’ve seen photos online, and Gratitude Cafe has the same aesthetics. The bar is on the left side with limewashed walls, while the dining area occupies the left side of the room, where you can find more colors. The top half of the walls are covered in red bricks; Fuschia-colored cushioned seats cover the bottom. Some seats had white square tables, and a few had round wooden tables. They use rattan chairs with metal legs and teal-colored cushions. The awning is made of nipa shingles, completing the island-vibe design.
The overall ambiance is relaxed and inviting. It’s a good spot for people-watching and idling away time. I felt very at ease when I was there, and it was a bonus that the baristas were so friendly. You could come up to them for a chat, and they would gladly oblige. You can even ask them to take photos of you (some would even volunteer), and they’d do it with a smile.

🥯 Gratitude Cafe food
Classic omelette with shitake mushrooms
Price: USD 3.84 (PHP 220)

Admittedly I wasn’t a fan of this dish, not because it tasted terrible but because it was filled with bell pepper and I don’t really like bell peppers. Nevertheless, I finished the whole thing because let’s not waste food; people are hungry. For what it’s worth, it was filling.
French pastry
Price: USD 1.75 (PHP 100)

They have pastries that are not on the menu but have them on display, and they look enticing (I love pastries). I ordered what looks like a blueberry danish, which they listed as a French pastry on the receipt.
The dough was slightly tough instead of soft; nevertheless, it was delicious and not overly sweet. It was the perfect pairing for my hot coffee.
☕ Gratitude Cafe drinks
Cappuccino (iced)
Price: USD 2.97 (PHP 170)

The first time I went there (yes, I hung out in this cafe twice), it was a sweltering day, and I needed something to cool me down. So I ordered an iced cappuccino. And man, it was refreshing, although I noticed it toned down the espresso flavor a little bit. Never mind, I still liked it.
Cafe Mocha
Price: USD 3.06 (PHP 175)

Their cafe mocha is unforgettable. It was so smooth, frothy, and delicate. One sips, and it’s like I’d seen my future, lol. It was purely divine that I let out an audible sigh catching the barista’s attention. I told him it was very delicious; he replied, “Yes ma’am, it was made with love.”
That made me smile; what a romantic thought. As I took another sip, I told myself that maybe, this is what love tastes like.
