Check out these Instagrammable Cafes, BGC, Taguig

I’m back in the Philippines; I have been for a while. I know I should be writing the story of what I did in 2023 for my small fan base (I’m not delulu; I have at least 10, okay?), but I still couldn’t get out of this rut that I’m in. But I digress; this post is about the BCG aesthetic cafes that I have visited of late. Your coffee girl is back, and of course I will be scouring the best cafes in the city. There’s no special category for this other than that these cafes are beautiful. I’m still in the thick of discovery, so maybe I’ll make another post with better categories, e.g., bgc cafes with wifi, bgc cafes for remote working. Anyway, that’s enough yapping and onto the great things. Here’s my list of instagrammable cafes, BGC:

Baristart

Baristart Cafe brings a slice of Hokkaido to BGC. It has multiple locations in Singapore and the Philippines. The cafe is popular for their cream puffs with rich Hokkaido Jersey milk custard. They offer a full menu of coffee, desserts, and savories – all featuring this premium milk. The minimalist yet warm interiors create a relaxing ambiance. Furries friends are allowed in the outdoor area and the place has no WiFi. I recommend ordering their iced Hokkaido latte.

Deu-ces

Deu-ces is a new cafe at SM Aura notable for its minimalist and peach-colored interiors. Other Deu-ces locations include Makati and Alabang. The cafe started as a coffee roasting company and later expanded to a brick-and-mortar store. They offer Japanese food, such as sashismi, nigiri, rolls, tempura, noodles, and rice dishes. For drinks they have a good selection of coffee and tea, with plant-based milk option. I personally loved their hot matcha latte.

Bake House Manila

Bake House is a bakery and coffee shop inside Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig. It offers a curated collection of sweets and pastries that are all-natural and trans-fat free, including its signature Conscious Cookie made of ingredients. Their baked goods are some of the best I’d tried and their coffee selection is equally as good.

% Arabica, BGC

% Arabica is a Japanese coffee chain that has recently returned to the Philippines after closing all of its operations in the country in 2022. In July 2023, % Arabica opened its first physical location in the Philippines, in Manila Mitsukoshi, BGC. They opened another location in BGC at Shangri-La The Fort. The cafe has a modern style with white and minimalist interiors. % Arabica BGC is pet-friendly and offers free WiFi. I recommend ordering their Spanish latte and Iced Americano.

The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery

Out of all instagrammable cafes BGC, The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery is my favorite. It’s a busy cafe known for its cool ambiance, excellent coffee offerings, and extensive food selection. Their pour-over coffee and cold brew are some of the best that I’d tried. For food, they have sandwiches, salads, pasta, pastries, and rice dishes. The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery has multiple locations, including Quezon City and Makati. It’s a popular spot for those who want to do some remote work because of their fast and reliable WiFi connection. Likewise, it’s a favorite hangout by some furry parents as the cafe prides itself for being pet-friendly. For food and drinks I recommend the Latte, Matcha latte, and Tartufo pasta.

Coffee : Life

Coffee : Life is a small coffee shop with a cute ambiance, free WiFi, and freshly brewed coffee. The food menu is not extensive but they offer rice dishes.

Masa Bakehouse

The popular bakeshop/cafe in La Union just opened its store in BGC. They retained the same cool, island vibes of the original branch and seem to attract the same type of people (young people) that frequent the Elyu spot. However, this location is small, with tables placed so close together it was a little hard to get around. I recommend getting the Almond croissant and Cruffins.
