Brewginning: An Instagram-famous Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand
It’s a long time coming, but I’ve finally decided to write my reviews on Thailand coffee shops. This is from my last trip to the Land of Smiles back in January 2023. Yes, once again, I had procrastinated but if you’ve been following this blog for a long time, you should be used to it by now. Today, let’s delve into the influencer-famous coffee shop, Brewginning.

Brewginning was established in 2016 by Peeranut Karbpeng and can be found on the corner street along Chang Moi Rd and Chai Moi Kao Rd in Chiang Mai, conveniently situated across from the Wyenumpueng Changmoi Furniture shop.
Expect to see tourists taking turns posing for photos in front of Brewginning and the furniture shop. I found myself stepping aside several times, not to be caught in the frame. Not that I minded being included, but I didn’t want to ruin their perfect Instagram moment.

Brewginning has an industrialized interior design, with concrete walls, and coffee bar, and metal stools. A sizable window offers a view of the street. It has an indoor space where oftentimes, you’d see some local artists perform.

As in most Chiang Mai coffee shops, Brewginning has free and fast WiFi.

Brewginning has outlets at most of the tables, making it convenient for you to charge your devices while sipping your favorite brew.

Brewginning offers an array of light snacks, including pastries, sandwiches, and salads. I was particularly impressed by their cookie, which turned out to be a delightful surprise. It was soft, dense, and chewy.

Orange Espresso
Price: USD 2.60
When it comes to dining, I’m a person of habit; if I like something, I’ll order it again and again. But sometimes, I switch it up and respond to my curiosity. In this case, I was quite curious about their Orange Espresso because I saw many people ordering it.
It looks pretty and that’s the only good thing I can say about it. This drink is horrible! I’m so sorry, I know it’s one of the bestsellers but I cannot for the life of me understand what the hell this is. It’s sour and it’s bitter, and I don’t know if these two flavors should even be in the same room.
When I shared my feedback with the owner of the hostel where I had been staying, he chuckled and agreed that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, or rather, coffee. He kindly suggested trying a latte next time, but due to my limited stay, I couldn’t give it another shot.
I’m not discouraging anyone to check out Brewginning. However, I will not recommend this drink.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Chiang Mai and considering a visit to Brewginning, I’d steer clear of the Orange Espresso if your taste buds prefer more traditional flavors. But remember, every coffee shop experience is unique, and while I didn’t enjoy this particular drink, you might find it to your liking, so I’ll leave it up to you.
