Coffee Shop Review: Glasshouse Coffee, Davao, Philippines

I went to Davao in March 2022 and wasted no time checking out the coffee scene in the city. I found one that left a lasting impression on me because of the beautiful ambiance and the delicious coffee. It’s called Glasshouse Coffee.

📍Coffee shop – Glasshouse Coffee location

You will find Glasshouse Cafe inside the Oboza Heritage House in Poblacion. Just across this coffee shop is an old house turned into a restaurant called Tola. I wasn’t able to check it out because I was already full at that time.

🖼️ Coffee shop – Glasshouse Coffee ambiance and interiors

If there’s competition for the most beautiful coffee shops, Glasshouse Coffee will be among the top contenders, in my opinion. The structure reminds me of a trailer house, but instead of the iron sheet, it’s made of glass, if you know what I mean.

Because it sits within a garden, the ambiance is chill and relaxing, almost therapeutic. There are some books that customers are free to read. I picked up a book to read while waiting for my friend to return. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to finish it.

Carrot Walnut Cake

Price: USD 2.57 (PHP 150)

I had the Carrot Walnut Cake, which was a bit dry but nevertheless tasted good. It wasn’t overly sweet, and I loved the icing; it made a lot of difference to the taste of the cake.

Glasshouse Chocolate Chip

Price: USD 1.03 (PHP 60)

My friend had the Chocolate Chip; I wasn’t able to try it, but my friend said it was delicious; just taking his word for it.

☕ Coffee shop – Glasshouse Coffee drinks

Oat Milk Caramel Latte

Price: USD 3.77 (PHP 220)

Hallelujah, Glasshouse Coffee has coffee with plant-based milk. I ordered the Oat Milk Caramel Latte, and this coffee had me singing praises to the lord. I mean, it was luscious, so wickedly divine, I had immediately forgotten it took them a while (30 minutes, not an exaggeration) to serve my coffee.

Iced Oat Milk Latte

Price: USD 3.43 (PHP 200)

Because the Caramel Oat Milk Latte easily won me over, I decided to order a second drink (yes, on the same visit). This time I ordered the Iced Oat milk latte, and just like the first drink, I found this quite pleasing to taste. Whatever the baristas are doing, they’re doing it right.

Iced Double Chocolate

Price: USD 2.23 (PHP 130)

If you’re not too keen on the espresso, they have non-coffee drinks to try. My friend had the Iced Double Chocolate, and he liked it.

Glasshouse Coffee is one of those coffee shops that I can easily imagine myself frequenting. Nothing satisfies me more than having great coffee and Glasshouse Coffee clearly knows how to make one.

So if you ever visit Davao City, do not miss this coffee shop.

Author’s Note: Coffeehan’s scale pertains to Mara’s general feel about a coffee shop. The rating is based on her personal opinion, which is primarily influenced by the coffee’s taste more than the place’s aesthetics. The rating doesn’t aim to change, nor does it represent another person’s view of the coffee shops featured on this blog.
