I learned about Cafe Maruja through social media. People, including a friend, posted pictures, and I first noticed how beautiful the food presentation was. I’m a simple girl; I see something pretty, I go find it.

🖼️ Cafe Maruja ambiance and interiors
Honestly, I don’t know how to describe the interiors best, but it gives off that island vibe. They have an airconditioned area where you can find the coffee bar and limited indoor seats. They also have seats outside facing the beach.
Initially, I stayed inside because the weather was so humid, and I was sweaty and sticky from my long walk. Once I cooled down, I asked to be transferred outside so I could enjoy my food and drinks with the view of the beach.

🥯 Cafe Maruja food
Fruit & Nutella
Price: USD 5.78 (PHP 335)
I had difficulty deciding what to order because there was so much to choose from on the menu. I’d had lunch somewhere already, so I wasn’t hungry; I didn’t want to order something heavy.
Adding to my stress is how pricey their food and drinks are. A pitcher of infused water is $4.22, are you kidding me?!
I thought about ordering the Mermaid Vegan Burger, but it’s $8.19, like what the hell is in this burger that it has to be this expensive? Yes, I’m being stingy but come on; everything in Boracay is so costly, it’s not funny anymore.
So I settled with something that I figured wouldn’t be too heavy on the stomach and wouldn’t send me begging on the street, the Fruit & Nutella crepe.
Those Instagram posts were not lying; they knew how to make a good food presentation. It was so delicious, but it wasn’t light at all; I almost didn’t finish it because my stomach was about to burst. Of course, I had to clean the plate; I spent $5.78 on it.
☕ Cafe Maruja drinks
Price: USD 4.22 (PHP 245)
I had coffee before going there, so I ordered a non-coffee drink, Matcha Latte. Look at it, gorgeous, right?! And those bits of dried leaves as garnish, what a nice touch.
To be fair, I get the hype over Cafe Maruja. They have the best location, they make beautiful food and drinks presentation, and their staff is friendly. Given the price point, though, Cafe Maruja is not something I’d be able to return to out of whim unless, of course, somebody else will pay for me 😂.
