I do have that fantasy; waking to the sound of waves, sipping from a glass of wine — but I don’t like wine so let’s make that a glass of mojito — spending the lazy afternoon gazing out to the sea, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin, all to the confines of a beautiful room that faces the sea. But then who doesn’t want this? When we go on a vacation, doing it in comfort is of course very much desired. In Boracay, there are many accommodation that can offer these things and more. With beauty and luxury though come a hefty price tag; high-end beach front hotels carry a daily outlay of 3 to 4 thousand, and that’s the lowest. But what good is a posh accommodation if you will be spending more time outdoors.
So when I went to Boracay last April I opted to book a room that is decent but kind to the budget. When I say decent I mean I don’t care if the room is small, so long as there is a clean bathroom with a clean bed. I managed to find one that fits the bill through Airbnb, a website for people to rent out lodging. The room can be found at Villa Lourdes Resort, an apartment-type accommodation that sits at the heart of the D’Mall on Station 2.
It’s only 1,200 per night and the room can billet 4 to 6 people. It’s a no-frills fan room with one queen-size bed, a double-deck bed, and an attic with a mattress. Despite being a budget lodging, the room is neat, has a TV with cable, own bathroom with toilet, and they even provided us with towels and rolls of tissue. [Read: Tips to Enjoy LaBoracay]
It’s not beach-front compared with Boracay Peninsula, the hotel where my friends and I stayed last year, but I didn’t mind because it only takes a 3 to 4-minute walk to reach the White Beach. Also, even when it’s close to where the action is (in fact it sits so close to a club), the noise doesn’t reach our room. [Read: Review of Boracay Peninsula Resort]
Aside from the budget-friendly rate, what compelled me to book this place is reviews that it gained from some travelers. Now that I’ve stayed there, I can attest to their testimonies. This room at Villa Lourdes is a good value for money, it’s big enough to accommodate a group, there is no additional charge for more people, the place is accessible and convenient, and the contact person, Dea, is very responsive.
I had no trouble at all during our stay at Villa Lourdes and so I’d like to endorse this cheap accommodation in Boracay Station 2 for your lodging in your next Boracay trip. [Read: Some Days in Paradise – Boracay]
