Coffee Shop Review: PICKUP Coffee MDC, Quezon City

I was on my way to a bank along the side of the MDC 100 tower in Eastwood City when I spotted something through the glass walls of the building. It’s a pop-up store, and I realized I had just spotted another PICKUP coffee branch. I recently published my PICKUP Coffee Eastwood Citywalk review. Seems like the coffee chain is growing fast; its stores keep popping up in different locations.

Because this branch is also located in Eastwood, Quezon City, I’m calling this PICKUP Coffee MDC 100 to avoid confusion.

While the Eastwood Citywalk branch is a trailer, the MDC 100 branch is a pop-up store painted in the same shade of green as their trailer stores. The are no seats or tables; customers can only order their coffee as a takeaway.

My colleague, Ann, and I tried their Christmas classics drink.

Buko pandan latte

Price: USD 1.52 (PHP 85)

Ann has the Buko pandan latte, and she asked me why they call some of their special drinks latte when they’re not coffee based. I’ve no idea; a quick Google search says that a latte is a coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk.

I didn’t get to taste the drink, but Ann said it was good. The pandan and milk flavors were balanced; she liked it.

Toffee nut latte

Price: USD 1.52 (PHP 85)

I wish I could say the same with the Toffee nut latte I ordered; unfortunately, it tasted so “syrupy.” Sorry for the bad description, but that’s the best way I can explain the flavor. If you want to know if the taste is similar to the Starbucks seasonal drink of the same flavor, the answer is no. So far, I have yet to discover a coffee shop that makes this coffee drink better than Starbucks.
