Bohol La Roca Hotel

Have you been to a place that didn’t do justice to the photos and not in a good way? That’s how Bohol La Roca Hotel is. It looked so beautiful in pictures I almost didn’t recognize it in person.

Bohol La Roca Hotel is considered as a 2-star hotel. Location wise it is perfect; just 10 minutes away from Tagbilaran Airport and close to the seaport, shopping areas, and other establishments. It has a fairly spacious parking area by the entrance, and the place itself is big. [Read: Quick Guide to Bohol]

Bohol La Roca has a total of 24 rooms, equipped with a bed, hot and cold shower, A/C unit, and TV with cable. Some of these rooms have problems though. When we stayed there, my roommates and I had to be transferred because the first room that they assigned to us didn’t have a working shower. That’s not the worse, some rooms didn’t have running water, according to some of my officemates.

Room rate is cheap though, the Standard Room is only PHP1,155 per night. I’m sorry I don’t have photos of the room but you may logon to their website to view the rooms.

The hotel has a small prayer room, a big dining area, a garden, and a swimming pool. Unfortunately, the water in the swimming pool is too dirty, we were discouraged to use it. WiFi connection is available but intermittent; the signal is the strongest in the lobby, inside the room, it’s almost impossible to use the Internet.

What it lacked in maintenance it more than made up for with the staff. They were accommodating and did their best to make our stay comfortable as much as they could. They also offer day tours and this I will recommend because the driver is very courteous and friendly.

Bohol La Roca Hotel has been around for 41 years and this can be seen in the ambiance. The hotel has seen better days but with maintenance and upgrade, I think it would look more presentable again. For the cheap rate, the kind staff, and the fact that it’s close to key points of interests in Tagbilaran, I’d recommend the place. But I’m telling you already that it doesn’t look as pleasing as the ones you can see from their website, so manage your expectations.
