Swensen’s SM Mall of Asia

My first memory of eating ice cream is not exactly pleasant. I remember this incident in Luneta (Rizal Park) where my big sis and I had a set-to over a single cone of ice cream. It aroused the ire of our mother and the sense of humor of our father who immortalized the scene through his camera. The picture? Yes I still have it… and no, I’m not showing it to you.

Recently I just had another ice cream moment and this one, I’m glad to report, was pleasant. At Patti’s suggestion, Rhoda, Gerald, Alchris, and I found ourselves in SM Mall of Asia to try the newly opened ice cream parlor in town, Swensen’s.

We decided to just order something that is good for the whole group. I figured it’d be better if we pick Chocolate Fondue (PHP 490). It’s chocolate fondue with a piece of brownie, whipped cream, slices of mango and banana, wafer, and scoops of ice cream in different flavors.

If you want to get a taste of different ice cream flavors, I suggest you get the platter. You get to pick which flavor you want on your plate; in our case we had 9 scoops; Macadamia, Wild at Heart, Strawberry Cheesecake, Green Tea, Chocolate Peanut Buttercup, Mocha Almond Fudge, Almond Praline Delight, and Blueberry Cobbler. Out of all these flavors, I recommend Macadamia, Green Tea, and Almond Praline Delight. The ones that didn’t pass to my liking were Chocolate Peanut Buttercup (flavor was too strong and had a bitter aftertaste) and Wild at Hear (it was too sour for comfort).

Patti opted to have her own ice cream and this is what she had; the yummylicious Oreo Cookies and Cream (PHP 220).

Going to Swensen’s reminded me why ice cream is considered as one of the best comfort foods around. A spoonful had me feeling light and cheerful, and based on what I’d observed with my friends, I wasn’t alone in this opinion.

So if you also love ice cream and you want a good place for barkada (friends) or family bonding, I recommend that you try Swensen’s in Mall of Asia.
