I hate pickles and I certainly don’t want it on my burger. Ketchup or mustard for me should be an option, and maybe instead of cheddar they should use blue cheese. Ah… the joys of being in control. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could tell them exactly how we want our burger done minus the possibility they’d spit on our food. Oh yeah we could! There is a place where you can friggin’ dictate the ingredients of your burger and it’s (aptly called) The Burger Project.
There is a new TBP branch at Grand Towers in Vito Cruz and that’s where my friend, Rhoda and I went before we watched Carmen.
First the interiors, it has two floors, with white painted wooden tables and stools. The thing that I found most interesting is the blackboard with scribbles that lined the walls. They do delivery, by the way, check the writing on the picture below.
As I said in my lead paragraph, TBP allows their patrons to customize their own burger. But say you are too lazy to make you own, you can just pick from their pre-made burgers. But that’s no fun so I suggest you try making your own. You will be given this checklist (I call it the Diva Checklist) where you can just indicate the things that you want in your burger. It’s quite simple, just 6 steps:
- Choose a burger
- Choose a bun
- Choose a cheese
- Choose your Premium Toppings
- Choose your Basic Toppings
- Choose a Sauce
Even the value of each ingredient is included in the list so you will be able to keep track of the price of your burger. When you’re done checking, you give it to the person in the counter and wait for the magic to unfold.
This is Rhoda’s burger, it has mushroom strips, caramelized onions, blue cheese, and beef patty. How did it taste? It was actually bland but Rhoda didn’t notice ’cause during that time she had colds. She later realized that she skipped step 6 (the sauce)… so that explains it. So people, if you’re making a burger, don’t you ever miss the sauce.
Now this is my burger which I call, Marger (hahaha… corny I know but what they hey it’s my burger!). It is made of beef patty (PHP99), sesame seed bun (free), cheese sauce (PHP35), Canadian bacon (PHP25), tomatoes (free), and special BRGR sauce (PHP15). You total all those numbers and you’re now looking at a PHP174 worth of burger. I don’t mean to gloat, but Marger is one of the yummylicious burgers I’ve ever tasted, maybe because everything they’d put in it suits my taste.
Rhoda ordered Mozzarella Sticks (PHP140). It is delicious and bounds to get you stuffed in no time so go easy on it, lest you wouldn’t be able to down your burger, which by the way, is of big size.
I have another recommendation and this you absolutely need to try; the Vanilla Milkshake (PHP145). Before this, my most favorite vanilla milkshake is the one that Brothers Burger offers, then TBP’s milkshake knocked it off the top spot. It is uber creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness so you don’t get tired of its taste. I loved it so much I wouldn’t mind going back to TBP just for this.
TBP is one if not the most interesting food trips that I had and if like me you are a control freak feeling a bit adventurous, you must seriously give this a try. It’s fun, easy, and quite memorable.

I love the customized burger idea! Whenever I go to a standard joint I have so many specialized requests that they might as well let me build it from scratch!
