One of my officemates has been tweeting nonstop about this place where he likes to take his lunch, Adobo Connection. I’d been thinking about giving it a try so I asked my cousin, Jackie to go with me last 21st of December.
We went to its Valero branch, which is opened 24 hours. The place is well lit, with a television, brick walls, and posters that tell the history of this famous Filipino dish.
They offer a variety of adobo-based dishes, there’s the classic, the one with coconut milk, you can have it spicy, sweet, with pork, chicken, or both. They also quirky offerings like adobo pao and adobo spaghetti. Aside from the regular drinks they also offer alcoholic beverages.
Jackie ordered Mama’s Sweet Pork/Mix Adobo (Solo – PHP 109/With Drinks – PHP 125). I’m not exactly a fan of sweet viands but this one I gotta say, passed to my liking. It’s sweet, but it didn’t overpower the sour and salty flavor of adobo.
My order is Pork/Mix Adobo sa Gata (Solo – PHP 119/With Drinks – PHP 135). I noticed that the chicken and pork are crisp so most probably they were fried first. Good call ’cause it added texture to the meat and made it tastier. The shredded chili peppers garnish is a nice touch, I think the spiciness boosted the flavor of the dish.
Already I’m thinking of going back. The food may be inexpensive but it’s good and the place looks decent. Now I know why my officemate loves the place.
