Humans are visual creatures so when you are trying to make a good impression, being attractive is the key. The same principle applies in food establishments and other places of business. You create a beautiful ambiance, you attract people. It’s the exact thing that led me to the Sandwich Shop by Plato Wraps at the SM Jazz Mall. In this food adventure though, I learned that looks is not everything.
I found a restaurant in the South that offers the ultimate edible pleasures. The place is called TUS’ Clay Pots & Skillets; TUS is from the Spanish word that means “yours,” while the food that they offer are served on cazuela, a Spanish cooking pot, used to prepare dishes in South America and ceramic skillets. TUS is owned by two young women, Maricar Sason and Chef Krsna Algenio who obviously know what they are doing. Because everything about TUS’, I love. So I do I love TUS’? Let me count the ways.
I walked in a half sprint under the midday sun, chasing whatever shades I could find while silently cursing myself for not bringing my umbrella. “Crap, I’d come home, a 50 shades of black,” I muttered to myself, as I dutifully followed the instruction of Google map that was supposed to lead me to a ramen house. Alabang area is an unfamiliar territory for me and it’s the first time that I’d been to Westgate Center. When I heard, “you have reached your destination” while standing along Commerce Ave., it felt like I’ve been Punk’ed. The sun was high, it was not the right time to be lost. Because I had a bit of suffering I wondered if this trip would be worth it. To end my aimless walking I sought the help of a security guard, only then did I finally get to the place I was looking for. Turns out the ramen house doesn’t own a spot by the street. You need to snake through some corners to find it. I think I now have a clue what a person who got lost in the desert feels like upon discovering an oasis because when I found Butamaru it felt like I was seeing an oasis.
Rebecca Rubio, aged 25, a video blogger, was reported missing by her landlord on the 17th of July 2012. She was last seen entering her room at around 7:00 in the evening the day before. To this day, the Makati Police has no leads to the whereabouts of Rubio. On 27th of February 2015, 6 spirit questors were asked to enter Rebecca’s room to once and for all, solve the mystery behind her disappearance. I am one of the 6 spirit questors, but before you commission me to communicate with your dead loved ones, let me make it clear that this was just a premise of this game that I played with five of my officemates during our team-building activity at Mystery Manila, Makati.
