Before Legolas and Katniss Everdeen, there was Jun Yabuki or Yellow 4, one of the characters of Bioman, an old Japanese TV show. I was a fan of Yellow 4 because first of all, I loved yellow, second, I thought she had the most kick ass weapon; the bow and arrow. I never thought I’d get a chance to try archery until we saw this promo at Cash Cash Pinoy, a group buying site. Gandiva Cafe offered an hour worth of archery lesson for only PHP300 (original price is PHP600). What a perfect opportunity! So I, and three of my officemates got ourselves the voucher.
I just found another reason to frequent the Binondo area and that is the Lucky Chinatown Mall. I heard it opened in February this year, but I didn’t get to check it out until recently. On my second visit there, I had coffee with my friends, Tina and Bethel at Starbucks. What’s so special about this Starbucks branch? For one, the interior, the display, and furniture are Chinese inspired.
Are you guys familiar with hand-pulled noodles called, lamian? It’s a type of Chinese noodle that is, “made by stretching and folding the dough into strand,” – Wikipedia. And I think I just found the best tasting lamian in town, thanks to my friend, Tina, who took me to this noodle house along Masangkay Street in Manila last Sunday. The noodle place is called Lan Zhou La Mian.
My former officemate used the term “overrated” when she described Cupcakes by Sonja. This is not to say that she didn’t find their cupcakes pleasing, it’s just that she didn’t think there was anything special about them. This conversation happened a year ago, but I didn’t get to try Sonja until recently.
This is so outdated and the McCormick people might have already taken me off their “bloggers-to-invite-on-future-events” list. My sincerest apologies! I just had to finish my Ilocos series. I’d been invited to attend the launching of the Facebook application of McCormick’s flavor headquarters on May 10, 2012 (yeah, that was three weeks ago), but I didn’t find the time to write about it until now. The event was held at the TopShelf, Fully Booked branch in Bonifacio Global City, hosted by Partricia Bermudez Hizon.
